Saint Patrick's Day Parade in Scranton

                                   
The Saint Patrick's Day parade in Scranton boasts 5,000 participants, including floats, bagpipe players, high school bands, minstrels, and Irish groups. It has been going on annually since 1962 by the St. Patrick's Day Parade Association of Lackawanna County.  The parade has gotten attention nationally as being one of the largest  St. Patrick's Day parades.

Scranton hosts the fourth largest St. Patrick's Day Parade in the United States.  In 2003, more than 100,000 people lined the parade route throughout the downtown.    Below are some pictures of past parades!  Click on thumbnail pictures to enlarge.

   Scranton firefighters, along with other area firefighters march with New York City Firefighters on parade day 2002 in downtown Scranton.

Lets take a quick look at Parade Day from 1987.  I took the following pictures from Skycam 16.  Notice the old Casey Hotel.. and the old part of Lackawanna Avenue before the mall at Steamtown was built!!   Boy how things have changed!
